The Complete Guide to Gold Grading for Conscious Purchasing

Buying gold jewelry may seem complex, but understanding some basics about gold grading can make your choice easier. This article will help you understand how gold is classified and what to check before purchasing.

The Purity of Gold and Alloys
Gold, in its pure form, is a very malleable metal. To increase its hardness and durability, it is alloyed to other metals. This practice is essential for creating jewelry that can withstand daily use and gem setting.

The "Title" of Gold

In Italy, gold trading is mainly based on two securities: 750/1000 (18 carats) and 375/1000 (9 carats). These numbers indicate the amount of pure gold present in the alloy. For example, an 18-karat piece of jewelry contains 750 parts of gold out of 1000 total parts of the alloy.

The addition of different metals allows you to obtain various colors of gold:
White Gold: obtained with metals such as silver.
Rose Gold: obtained by adding copper.
Each company has their own formulas for creating different shades of yellow, while still maintaining the proportion of 750 parts gold.

Identification of Title and Manufacturer
To guarantee the quality of the jewel, it is essential to check the presence of the title and manufacturer's mark:

Title Mark: Indicates the purity of the gold, expressed as 750 for 18 karat gold and 375 for 9 karat gold.

Manufacturer's Mark: identifies the company that produced the jewel, through a hallmark that includes an acronym and a number assigned by the regional metric office. For example, Unoaerre is identified by the hallmark 1AR.

Transparency of Information
On our gold items, we always indicate the fineness and weight. Weight is critical information for evaluating and comparing jewelry. If the weight is not indicated, you can request it through the information request forms, via telephone or WhatsApp, and we will immediately update the product sheet.

Our philosophy
Transparency is at the heart of our commitment. We believe that informed customers are able to make better choices and be more satisfied with their purchases. For any questions, we invite you to participate in our blog by writing to us.

See you soon,
